Winston Horatio Oakes Jr.

OAKES, Winston H. Jr, age 87, formerly of Washington, Twp. passed away, peacefully October 31, 2016 at Oak Creek Terrace, Kettering, Ohio. Win was born June 23, 1929 in Thacker Mines, West Virginia to the late Winston H. Sr. and Sallie (Dalton) Oakes. Also preceded in death by sisters Frances & Virginia and brother Newman. Win is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ellen (Morrell) Oakes, 3 nieces, Susan, Nancy, and Sheila, and dear friend Ginny Stewart. Win served in the United States Air Force, was a 1958 graduate of the University of Dayton and retired from the City of Dayton as a Housing Inspection District Supervisor. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Unit One at Oak Creek Terrace for their tender and loving care of Win. The family will receive friends from 10 am Friday, November 4, 2016 until time of service at 11 am, at David’s Cemetery Community Chapel, 4600 Mad River Rd. Kettering, OH 45429.
