William "Bill" Lester Kennedy, 59 of Riverside, Ohio received his new body on October 26, 2021. He was born on January 21, 1962, the only son of Lester and Phyllis Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Jo Mohr on July 13, 2016 and his father, Lester Roscoe Kennedy on August 25, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Phyllis Smith Kennedy, the love of his life and wife of 39 years Janet Tipton Kennedy, two daughters Joy(Travis)Harrison of New Carlisle, Ohio and their three children; Adeline, Ryleigh and Tucker; Bethany(Joel)Peck of Buda, Texas and their two daughters Everly and Elowyn. He is also survived by one sister, Vicki Barger. Bill totally rocked the son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great and even great-great uncle roles.
Bill was an avid athlete from an early age, actually learning to throw a football from his mother. His speed when participating in track and football earned him the nickname "Lightening Legs". He passed on his love of football to his daughters.
Bill had a heart to help people and proved that on many levels. He was a part-time firefighter/EMT with the City of Riverside for seven and a half years earning many accommodations for being able to calm patients by simply talking to them. He worked at Pickrel Brothers for twelve years before starting his career as a Corrections Officer with the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office. He retired from the Sheriffs Office in 2013 after almost twelve years of service.
He was "Commander Bill" with the Royal Rangers through the Assemblies of God for many years. He loved working with the boys and eventually served on the District Board. Another example of always desiring to be a changing force for good in the lives of those he touched.
Bill had a dry sense of humor, was a man of few words but felt things deeply. He loved with everything in him and was always available to help wherever he could. In recent years he struggled with multiple physical issues which greatly hindered his ability to do the things he most enjoyed which included camping, hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.
He lived in chronic pain for at least the last twenty-five years and although we were not ready for him to go, he EARNED the right to be pain free.
Our lives will never be the same. However, we were so very blessed to have him as long as we did.
A visitation for Bill will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel.
Bill will be laid to rest in Mount Zion Park, Beavercreek,Ohio.
