

Wesley Quentin Umbreit (76) went to his heavenly reward Tuesday, January 18, 2022, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2013. He made the most of his journey however and continued to enjoy being surrounded by loving family and devoted friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents William and Ruth Umbreit of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and five brothers. He is survived by his sister Caroline who lives in the Chicago area and by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathleen Stichweh Umbreit of Dayton. Together Wes and Kathy raised three wonderful children. Jeffrey (Sarah) Umbreit of Centerville; Jennifer (Brad) Rice of Miamisburg and Elizabeth (Doug) Zupanic of Kettering. He also leaves six cherished young adult grandchildren Dakota and Hannah Reumann; Alex and Nathan Umbreit and Jonas and Jacob Zupanic. And of course, his beloved cat, Miss Kitty. He treasured close relationships with his brothers and sisters in-law and their families as well as wonderful supportive friends. As a teenager he performed with the Dakota Cloggers Dance group as they traveled the Midwest entertaining at the Grand Old Opry, the White House and many State Fairs. After being drafted and stationed in Vietnam, he found himself in Dayton and decided he just might like it here. And he did. From working at Inland he took a leap into managing commercial production for Elder Beerman. He wrapped up his career as a consultant in the Kitchen/Bath Designer training field, traveling nation-wide.
He had a life well-lived and always believed in giving something back.
