MORSE, Wayne Hastings, Sr. was born November 19, 1924, in Peoria, Illinois and passed away in Kettering on Saturday, August 25. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Morse(Craig)Murakami of Kettering; son, Wayne H.(Melissa)Morse Jr. of Atlanta, GA. and two grandsons, Tyler and Jordan Morse. Wayne ”Moose” Morse served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII, completing his service at the end of the war as a Staff Sargent. Wayne Morse attended the University of Michigan on the G.I. Bill, where he received both a bachelor and master degrees, the latter being in journalism. At Michigan, Wayne Morse was part of the 1946-47 men’s basketball team, the first Michigan team to play in the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament. After college, Wayne Morse moved to Dayton and worked for Frigidaire, writing for the company’s newspaper. In the 1970’s, Wayne Morse and two other partners formed Morse Stotter Plummer Advertising. Clients of the agency included Culligan, Royal Crest Dairy, Fox Cleaners, and Reichard Buick. Many of Wayne’s clients advertised on his wife Bette’s television program, the Bette Rogge Show, running on WHIO-TV from 1967 to 1977. In 1989, Wayne Morse was elected president of the National Aviation Hall of Fame at the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Throughout his life, Wayne Morse cared for others in his family and for friends within the community.
