SMITH, Virginia Simpkins Johnson, “Jenny”, age 85, of Northridge, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born January 12, 1928 to the late Herbert and Beatrice (Powers) Williams. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother Carl Simpkins, sisters-in-law Faye Hoskins, Carol Sears and Dortha Hamilton; brothers-in-law Pearl Smith and Hershell Smith; and granddaughter Jennifer Rosellen. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Frank Smith; two daughters Becky (Quincy) Long and Connie Rosellen; three step-children Kim Gallazzo, Ronnie Smith and Dottie Jones; sisters-in-law Ellen Simpkins, Norma Haines and Dorothy Sloane; four grandchildren Kim Gotthardt, Stephanie Topp, Kenny Rosellen and Kevin Rosellen; and five great-grandchildren. Virginia graduated from Northridge High School in 1947. She retired from J. H. Morrison School after 30 years of service. She loved her family, enjoyed cooking for them, liked to crochet, and most of all, she loved fishing and going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee with Frank. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 1pm at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BELMONT CHAPEL, 648 Watervliet Ave. The family will receive friends from 12pm until time of service.
