Vera Katherine (Tymkow) Hunter, 79, of Centerville, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 19, 2014. Born March 2, 1935, in Hartford Connecticut, and raised in Windsor, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Tymkow. She is also predeceased by her husband George Hunter, sister Nadia Fischer and brother Joseph Tymkow. Vera graduated in 1953 from Windsor High School in Windsor, CT. Following graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. where she met George on a blind date. They were married shortly after on June 16, 1956. Vera devoted her life to raising her four daughters in a loving home, both in Maryland and Ohio. She was also a talented seamstress who worked for many years at Pants Makers Ladies Apparel in downtown Centerville, Ohio. Throughout her life her words held wisdom, and she had a dry wit that never left her. Above all, she was a kind and gentle soul. She is deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughters Leslie Waizmann (Joe), Nancy Williams, Polly Kessel (Dan), and Amanda Ammer (Bryan); grandchildren Jessica and Robert Waizmann, Olivia and Anna Williams, and Reid and Neil Ammer; sister Irine Mack, sister-in-law Carol Tymkow and brother-in-law Tom Hunter; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Vera donated her remains to the Wright State University Anatomical Research Program. A memorial service will be held April 25 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakwood, Ohio followed by a reception. The family wishes to thank the staff at Liberty Retirement Community of Washington Township, as well as Hospice of Dayton for Vera’s care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Hospice of Dayton, or the charity of your choice.
