I did not know that Ted had passed away. We were roommates at Eastern Baptist Seminary in 1959. He was always a gentle loving man and I will not forget how he touched my life.

It seems just yesterday that the Bretz family came into the lives of the Shroyer Road Baptist Church family. Some miraculous things happened to make it possible. So began some miraculous events that brought refugee families to Dayton and, among others, to Shroyer Road. And Ted, Norma and the kids enriched our lives so many other ways that they cannot be listed here. Anyone who wonders must simply take it on faith. We thank God for those gifts and we pray that the family will cherish the memories as we do. -- Ruth and Bill Wild

 Since I heard of your dad's death, the words to two of his favorite songs keep coming to my mind:  "I Cannot Come to the Banquet" and "Joy Is Like the Rain"!  He sang these songs in a quartet, as well as teaching them to our church family.  His lingering problems from polio have encouraged me with my own health trials.  You have lost a wonderful dad, but now he is with your mother.

Sending our sincere sympathy for your loss.  We remember Rev. Bretz with such love as our former Pastor in New Martinsville and friend.  His ministry, his love for Norma and his family, singing in the Mens' Quartet and his spirit of outreach and fellowship will always be precious memories to us. Love and Prayers.

Theodor A Bretz was the brother of my wife. He always served his close and distant family and the church he led with love and by making sacrifies. Since his youth he praised and served Lord Jesus Christ with faith, humbleness, refusing compromises.

"Old man are proud of their grandchildren, just as boys are proud of their fathers." (Poverbs 17. 6)

This verse is true for his physical  brothers and sister, children and grandchildre  and spiritual family  the church where he ministered.

We will remember Him in our mind and in our hearts with love and respect.

My heart goes out to the entire family.  Theodore was always so true to the Lord with his evident faith and kind words.  "God is near to the broken hearted and save the crushed in spirit."

My name is Bela Szucs. I am a nurse at Fairmount Health Center at Breckendidge Village in Willoughby Ohio. I wanted to send my condolences to the family of Rev. Bretz. I knew him while he lived here at Breckenridge Village. I am from Hungary also. Rev. Bretz was present at my wedding in the Chapel at  Breckenridge and translated the whole ceremony in Hungarian. It is a very beautiful memory of ours. Thank You Mr Bretz!

As native Daytonians, we have been members of American Baptist Churches throughout the United States. We met Reverend Bretz at First Baptist in Cleveland. He was a remarkable gentleman. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

To Rev. Bretz i will always remember you and the good times i spent talking to you. Thank you for saving me. As a young man going down the wrong path in my life you took me into your family and blessed me and sent me on the right path to our Heavenly Father. I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL. Though you are gone now , but never forgotten. God Bless You ...

Ted lived what he  believed. I will miss his mischievous humor, his profoundly moving sermons, and his warm smile.

"May the God of all comfort" give you the needed strength to endure during this sad time.

May your cherished memories sustain you during this difficult time.

As Theodore is at rest God is a secure height for those in distress ( psalm 9:9)

Saddened to hear of your fathers passing. He was a great man and an inspiration to me and many others.  His witness for Christ was genuine.
