Aukerman (nee King), Thelma Jean 93 a resident of Beavercreek passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Trinity Community of Beavercreek, Lexi Lane Memory Care Unit, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She is preceded in death by her Husband of 61 years Myron, Son Mark, Parents Bert " Mace" King and Grace Ethel King. She is survived by her children: Son Tim Aukerman and Wife Chris of Sylvania, Ohio, Daughters: Pam Lapp and Husband Duane of South Carolina, Beth Arnold and Husband Jerry of Huber Heights, Ohio, Grandchildren: Shauna Burens and Husband Mike, Jason Lapp and Wife Casey, Tyler, Travis and Julianne Aukerman, Kyle, Zach, Nate and Lucas Arnold. Great Grandchildren: Addison and Ian Burens, Carson and Archer Lapp, Ezekiel and Oliver Arnold and Claire Christopher. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
She was a graduate of Xenia High School and made many special memories with "The Gab Gang Girls" after graduation. She retired from Mad River Schools where she was an administrative Secretary, and made many lifelong friendships. She was a member of St Helen Catholic Church where she also volunteered as Parish Secretary and was blessed with many friends.
She was an enthusiastic fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes Football and TBDBITL, Cincinnati Bengals, Dayton Flyers and The Cincinnati Reds. She enjoyed cross stitch and needlepoint and her family will treasure her many works. Her intense competitive nature during board games will forever bring laughs.
Her later years were challenging as Alzheimer's descended upon her, but her kindness, sassiness and smile remained. Thanks mom for giving us life and for the many beautiful memories we will cherish forever. Every time we see a beautiful sunset we will know you requested it, The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the compassionate staff at Trinity Community of Beavercreek and Ohio's Hospice of Dayton for the care and love they have shown to Thelma Jean and the family over the past 8 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at St Helen Catholic Church 5100 Burkhardt Rd. Dayton, Ohio 45431. The family will receive friends at the church from 11am until time of service. In lieu of flowers family requests contributions be made to St. Helen Parish or Alzheimer's Association.
