KIRCHER, Susanne “Susi” (Herta) passed away peacefully on September 3, 2018, in Centerville, Ohio, at the age of 81. Susi was born in the small town of Bod in Romania on January 4, 1937, the youngest of three children of Otto and Susanne Schmidts. Susi was born into the tight-knit Siebenburgen community of Germans who had lived in Romania for centuries. Susi, an avid lover of the outdoors and a nutritionist, took up skiing and became a member of the Romania Ski Patrol working in the ski resort of Brasov. Later she obtained a nursing license and worked in Romania. In the 1970s, Susi’s family emigrated to Western Germany where Susi found work as a nurse in Munich. In 1976, Susi attended a medical conference in Switzerland where she met Dr. Konrad Kircher of Kettering, Ohio, whom she married the following year. After emigrating to Kettering, Susi worked hard to learn English and spoke on the speakers circuit to local groups in Ohio about her experience living and growing up in communist Romania. A few years later, Susi used her nutritionist and health background to open the Sans Souci health and fitness resort in Bellbrook, Ohio, which she ran for more than a decade. She published a book of healthy vegetarian recipes entitled, Sans Souci Spa Dining. In recent years, Susi lived at the Sans Souci property in Bellbrook, struggled with health issues, and enjoyed visits from friends, members of her church group, relatives from Germany, and her three stepsons and seven granddaughters. Susi’s husband, Konrad Kircher, preceded her in 2010, and her sister Gertrude and brother Otto also died in recent years. In the US, Susi is survived by her three stepsons, Konrad Kircher of Maineville, Ohio; Steve and Carrie Kircher of Centerville, Ohio; and Andrew and Jennifer Kircher of Mclean, Virginia; and granddaughters Kayla, Alexis, Darcy, Lindsey, Kristen, Chandler, and Cameron. In Germany, Susi is survived by niece Susie Schwarz and husband Andy, their children Sebastian and Tabea; nephew Jurgen and his daughters Lara and Mila; and nieces Claudia and Katharina Schmidts. A visitation for Susi will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel, from 10:00AM to Noon, followed by a service at Noon.
