She is preceded in death by parents, Harold Blakley and Lorene Blakley (Hamby); husband, Gene Short; son Ron Short; three brothers, Billy Ray, Louis, and Charles; three sisters, Wilma (Risden), Mildred (Adkins), and Louise.
Sandi is survived by two brothers Ralph (Gale) Blakley and Mike Blakley; two sons, Chuck (Robin) Short and Greg (Kristy) Short; three Grandsons Scott (Tristen) Short, Matt Short, and Brad (Alyssa) Short; four blended family Grandchildren, Austin and Rylan Jackson, Chelsea (Steve) Davis, and Cassie (Derek) Alexander; niece and special friend Linda McCullough (Adkins); seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will all miss her dearly.
Sandi was born in Brookside, Kentucky, on December 11, 1947. Her family migrated north to Ohio when she was very young and settled in Dayton-Northridge where she grew up, married, and raised a family as a long-time resident. Sandi had several small jobs through the years, but mostly dedicated her life as a homemaker and navigating the challenges of raising three boys. After re-dedicating her life to Jesus Christ, she continued to support her family and loved ones through many years of prayer. Being independent, she lived alone after her husband’s passing in 2008. She loved gospel music, reading her Bible, and the Christmas season. She also enjoyed yardwork, gardening, Marion’s Pizza, potatoes, watching QVC and Hallmark movies. She will be remembered the most for her favorite saying, “I am a child of God”.
Services will be held at Spaulding Road Church of God, 1658 Spaulding Road, Dayton, Ohio 45432, with Pastor Daniel Kroger officiating. Visitation: Friday, January 5th beginning at 5:00 pm. Funeral Service: Saturday, January 6th beginning at 10:00 am. Burial to follow in the Willow View Cemetery.
