GREENWOOD, Samuel E., age 78 of Beavercreek Township, won his war with ALS and entered heaven triumphantly on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. He died peacefully with his family by his side. Sam was born on September 27, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Alexander and Bernice Suber Greenwood. His oldest brother, Tommy Greenwood, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn L. Grissam Greenwood; Randy Greenwood of Springfield; Travis & Lisa Greenwood of Dayton; four grandchildren – Tyler and Amanda Greenwood of Beavercreek, Caitlyn and Matt Suber of Miamisburg; three great grandchildren, Dominic and Sydney Greenwood and Harper Suber; sister Florence; brothers Richard, Robert, Jerry and Alex Greenwood in Oklahoma as well as a great number of nieces and nephews. Sam earned his Bachelor of Arts from Central State University in Oklahoma and a Masters in Administration from Oklahoma University. He retired from the Senior Executive Service in 1993 after 33 years of patriotic service to the Department of Defense and the United States Air Force. He was the founder of The Greentree Group in 1993 and was Chairman of the Board for more than 23 years. During that time, Sam worked closely with his son, Travis, and grandson, Tyler, running the family-owned business in Beavercreek. Sam also volunteered his talent and time on dozens of industrial and civic boards. However, his real passion other than his family was working with the very special people with developmental disabilities at TAC Industries in Springfield, Ohio.
