Sally Sypult Pinnell, 77, of Beavercreek, Ohio, died unexpectedly April 11, 2015. Born Feb. 5, 1938 to Carroll and Virginia Sypult, she was raised in West Virginia, graduated from Fairmont High School and West Virginia University, then moved to the Dayton, Ohio area as a young wife and mother with her husband, William R. “Bob" Pinnell, where they raised a family and were very active in the Beavercreek community for nearly 50 years. She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bob Pinnell; children Brenda Pinnell, Beverly Stewart (Randy) and Brad Pinnell (Margie); grandchildren Ronnie Pinnell, Erin Pinnell, Marie Pinnell and Amanda Stewart; brothers Robert Sypult (Barbara) and Jim Sypult (Cheri) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. An exceptional pie baker, Sally was a homemaker, sportswoman, did post-graduate studies in library sciences at Wright State and good friend to a great many people. She was active in the Dayton Cycling Club — a recipient of the Glover Award, Vice President of the Friends of the Library in Beavercreek, was certified librarian and tennis coach at Beavercreek High School, and involved with the Kitty Hawk Ski Club and her college sorority, the Alpha Phi Society. She was a bicyclist and ride leader — originator of the Mush Ride — a golfer, traveler, angler, book lover and only slightly addicted to her iPad. She got every shot back in tennis, was an exceptional Y-Flyer first mate for many years and loved overstuffing Christmas stockings for her family. Mostly, Sally will be remembered lovingly as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In lieu of flowers, we encourage friends to make a donation to a charity of their choice. A gathering for friends and family will be Tuesday, April 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home at 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek, Ohio. www.tobiasfuneralhome.com
