Age 99 and 7 months, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020. She is survived by her 2 daughters and their husbands, Mary Ruth & Mark Shearer, and Patti & Allen Stock, her 3 grandchildren and spouses, Renee Stock Epstein and her husband Jeremy, Josh Shearer, Ryan Stock and his wife Katie, and her 3 great-grandchildren, Mason & Harper Epstein and Lucas Stock. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved Charles M. Spisak in 2002, and her siblings Jimmy, Janos, Joe, Lane, Julia, Michael, Charlie, Bill, and Margaret. In addition to her daughters and their families, many nieces and nephews survive Aunt Ruth. Faith and family were the most important aspects of Ruth’s life. She was a dedicated member of St. Albert the Great Church and actively expressed her devotion to the Blessed Mother with recitation of the rosary. Before her role as Mother, Ruth compassionately worked for several physicians in Dayton area, and enjoyed meeting anyone and everyone. Ruth was proud of her daughters’ musical, dance, and educational accomplishments and truly enjoyed being the troop leader of Girl Scout Troop 1011 and a superfan Alter Lancerette Mom and Grandmother. Ruth’s compassion for animals was part of her childhood and adult life, demonstrated in her care for Missy, the dog. Ruth and her husband Charles shared a deep devotion to St. Ann, the grandmother of Christ, and it was fitting that Ruth passed on St. Ann’s feast day, joining Charles in heaven. While Ruth loved her 2 daughters, she found the ultimate pure delight and joy of life in her 3 grandchildren, Renee, Josh, and Ryan. She attended every dance recital, Lancerette competition, soccer game, and hockey game that she could, ensuring that every spectator knew exactly who her grandchild was. Both Ruth and Charles made sure their grandchildren appreciated their Hungarian heritage, teaching them how to make chicken paprikash, cabbage and noodles, and dios kolache which remain as family traditions today. Ruth was not only a proud Grandmother, she held the honor of being Great-Grandmother to Mason Charles, Harper Ruth, and Lucas James. She genuinely exhibited and taught her family how to pray and persevere through faith in times of difficulty. Ruth was the teacher who taught by example, not just words, with the strongest of faith and love for God. The family extends deep gratitude to the health care providers who most recently assisted Ruth including Dr. Larry Lawhorne, the staff of the Wellington especially Ms. Dani Oliver, the staff of Comprehensive Geriatric Care, Day City Hospice, especially Tracey P. and Lauren G., and Tobias Funeral Home. Due to the current health situation, private services were held for the immediate family. However, Mary Ruth, Patti, and their families will welcome everyone to celebrate Ruth’s life with a Memorial Mass at St. Albert the Great Church, Kettering, at a later date. If desired, you may remember Ruth with a Mass through St. Henry Church, 6696 N. Springboro Pike, Dayton OH, 45449, or St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 2220 Lisson Road, Naperville, IL, 60565 or with a donation in Ruth’s name to the Music Ministry at either parish.
