80, of Centerville, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in the hospital with his wife, Christine at his bedside. He was born May 3, 1936 to Russell and Alice (Rupert) Winters in Delphos, Ohio, later moving to Dayton where he attended Stivers High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force.
Ron was a quiet but loving man with a quick wit that regularly brought a smile or laugh to those around him. It was that engaging style and strong work ethic that led him to a distinguished career in Major Accounts Sales and Marketing at Monarch Marking Systems. He was best known for guiding the successful marketing launch of the company’s first portable electronic system for retailers.
His career took him from Ohio to Michigan and back to Ohio where Ron met and married Christine, sharing 30 years together and a life enriched by his four children, their grandchildren and a wide circle of friends. Even in the midst of his struggles with heart disease, he retained a twinkle in his eye, a keen wit and an enduring love for his family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Christine (Metz), daughter Connie (Scott) Lee of Linden, MI, and sons Don (Glenda) Winters of Carlisle, OH, and Ron (Lesley) Winters of Colorado Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and sister Cindy (Roger) Napier of Springboro, OH.
He was preceded in death by his sister Connie (Bill) Lyttle, son Tom ( Donna) Winters, and his mother and father.
Visitation will be Monday September 19, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave., funeral services will follow immediately beginning at 1:00. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Foodbank, Inc. (Dayton) or SICSA Pet Adoption Center.
