Robert Louis Stone

STONE, Robert L. Age 92 of Kettering passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Joshua Tree Nursing facility in North Olmsted, Ohio. Robert was born on August 15, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Florence Neander Stone and Fredrick D. Stone. At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific. During World War II he served as a radioman on a cruiser battle ship. When he returned from the war he finished his education and started working for McCalls/Dayton Press. He was a printer setting color for McCalls magazine and Readers Digest. He married the love of his life, Roberta Davidson after only knowing her a few weeks. They were married 59 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick D. Stone and Florence Neander Stone, his wife Roberta Davidson Stone and his brothers Devern and James Stone. He is survived by his sister Vivian Hughes, his daughter Dawn Melodye (Thomas) Dover of North Royalton, Ohio, two grandchildren J. Nicole Dover Hess, Matthew Dover and one great granddaughter, Gabriella Hess. Funeral services will be held at Tobias Funeral Home-Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave., on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Russel Hayes officiating. Friends may call the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home Thursday morning. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.
