He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Robert J. and Phyllis I. Stein. He was a graduate of Oakwood High School (1962). He attended Miami University, where he met Sally, the love of his life. Soon thereafter, he graduated in the first class of the newly formed Wright State University. He received a bachelor’s degree from the School of Business.
Bob found his professional path in corporate/industrial sales in the corrugated packaging industry that took his family from Dayton, OH to Syracuse/Rochester, NY, Kalamazoo, MI, Columbus, OH, and then back to Dayton, OH. He thoroughly enjoyed his industry and the relationships of his customers and peers.
His great loves in life were his wife Sally, his children and his grandchildren. He was a loyal friend. He loved the game of football, was an avid fan of Ohio State Football and had a life-long penchant for wooden boats.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally; his son, Robert (Anna); his daughter Barbara Rau (Tom) and his grandchildren Jack, Kate and Christina; his sister, Judy Spettel.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Karl.
The family is honoring his wishes with a private celebration of life. His ashes will be returned to the earth at Little Traverse Bay, Harbor Springs, MI.
