HOKE, Robert Lee, Sr., age 88 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at The Hospice of Dayton. Robert was born on June 29, 1923 in Dayton to Cecil and Althea Weaver Hoke. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cecil Hoke. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bernice Phillips Hoke; his son, Robert L. Hoke, Jr. of Mission Viejo CA; his daughter, Sylvia Murphy (Tom) Gorman of Santa fe NM; two grandsons, Todd and Mark B. (Catlin) Murphy; two great grandsons, Ciaran & Finnian Murphy; son-in-law, Michael (Mary Louise) Murphy; granddaughter, Michaela Murphy; special cousin, Phyllis Schireloh; and special friends, Bill & Kim, Ann & Mike, Mary Swank, Ed & Jo Carmack, Mary Wilson, Lisa & Charlotte. Robert was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, employed briefly with GM, then served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he landed on Utah Beach, on D Day and was one of the first troops who liberated Paris. Later he went to work at the U.S. Post Office where he retired.
