Robert “Bob” Charles Chapman, 65, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton at about 5 am on Friday, May 13. He is survived by two children, Chris and Lisa, from his first marriage to Marion. Lisa is married to Marc Picard and they have 4 children, Bob’s grandchildren: Annica, Dawson, Ethanie, and Avayah. All of them are Canadian and reside in northern Ontario. Bob was raised by his adoptive parents, Burt and Bev Chapman in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. (Bob’s birth name was Robert Judson Eagle). They attended the Presbyterian Church, and as an adult, Bob was a non-denominational Christian. Bob has been a permanent resident alien of the United States for about 30 years. In Ohio, he is survived by his wife, Sue, their son, Jesse, and other family and friends. Bob has worked in both countries in his career as a model and pattern maker, but had to retire early due to disabling health issues some years ago. During his lifetime, he had many pastimes, like biking, swimming, traveling, playing chess, playing pool, and visiting local festivals. He has always loved parks, natural settings, and especially hanging out at beaches to grill out, swim, kayak, collect shells or driftwood, and be with family and friends. He followed hockey as a young man, watching games with his father. He liked watching NASCAR racing later in life, until Dale Earnhardt crashed and the race car motors became too regulated. He enjoyed several hobbies, including collecting stamps, playing pool, collecting coins, HO-scale trains, miniatures, photography, and even CB radios for a short time. After Bob's cremation, Tobias will coordinate a memorial service for family and friends, officiated by Pastor Gabe Oberholzer, at 1 pm on Sunday, May 22, at Greenmont-Oak Park Community Church on 1921 Woodman Drive near Patterson Road. In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting that you remember Bob through his son’s Boy Scout Troop 236 (“BSA Troop 236” in ℅ J. Ritter; 4316 Irelan St.; Kettering, OH 45440 -- [[email protected],]), through hospiceofdayton.org, or through church at [email protected].
