Richard E. Sherman, age 75 of Beavercreek, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Robert Sherman. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet (Crutchfield) Sherman, and three children: Dean Sherman, Lisa (Mike) Taylor, and Brian (Rebekah) Sherman. He is also survived by his mother, Gladys Mae (Dick) Krug, and nine grandchildren: Naomi (Don) Hughes, Timothy Sherman, Joshua (Kerri) Sherman, David (Megan) Sherman, Tabitha Sherman, David Collins, Daniel (Carly) Collins, Morgan Taylor and Cooper Taylor.
Seven great-grandchildren also survive him: Aileen, Nolan, David Jr, Oakley, Brooklyn, Eli,and Scarlett, as does a brother, Robert (Mary) Sherman, and a sister, Darlene Sherman, numerous nieces and nephews, and his special four-legged grandchildren. Richard was a lifelong toolmaker, working for 30 years at GM Inland until his retirement in 2004; he then worked an additional six years at Perfect Tool and Manufacturing. He held an enduring interest in motorcycles and cars, and in recent years thoroughly enjoyed both his hot rod and Corvette. He loved the Lord and was a member of Patterson Park Church.
Above all, he was a generous and friendly gentleman that never met a stranger, only another new friend. He was sincerely loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel from 11A until 1 PM. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1 PM with Rev. Joe Godwin officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery following the funeral.
