Ozella was born on Yellow Creek, Knott Co. Kentucky, on September 7, 1934. She graduated from Dilce Combs Memorial High School in Jeff, Kentucky, Perry Co. She moved to Dayton, Ohio after high school and worked at Winter’s Bank. She married Kermit Pratt on February 28, 1959. They relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1964, where they lived until 1985, at which time they returned to Dayton, Ohio.
She was a loving wife and mother who devoted her time to loving God and helping other people. When she was in high school, she entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. She accepted His gift of salvation, and followed Him the rest of her life on earth. She was involved in a number of ministries during her life, but most prominent were teaching Sunday School and mentoring high school students. She was a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church from 1985 to the present. Ozella had a beautiful smile and laughed a lot. She was outgoing and feisty. Everyone knew what was on her mind. Just prior to her death, she spoke daily about wanting to be with Jesus and those who have passed on to heaven before her. She is waiting for all who are eager to join her, and will be missed dearly by all those who loved her, especially her loving husband.
