STEPHENS, Nola, A longtime resident of Dayton and Centerville passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on August 12th, 2014. Nola was born in New Weston, Ohio on August 1, 1920. She attended Fairview High School in Dayton as well as Bowling Green University. She was for 20 years a teller at Gem City Savings in Centerville. She also did volunteer work for a number of hospitals and charities. Nola was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Opal Billhimer, husbands Frank Szumlic, and Tom Stephens. Nola is survived by sons Fred (Shirley) Szumlic of Westerville, Ohio, Tom (Leslie) Szumlic of Tampa Florida, and Tom (Deb) Stephens of Rumson’ New Jersey. Granddaughters Tanya (Pat) Cusick of Westerville, Ohio, Tami (David) Latiolais of Pittsburgh, PA, and Melissa Szumlic of Tampa, Florida. Also surviving are 4 great grandchildren and 3 nephews and a niece. As well as the many numerous friends and acquaintances she made over her lifetime. Nola was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her kindness, humor, and warmth will be both remembered and missed. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Parkside Village Home and Vitas Hospice for the love and comfort they showed Nola.
