Greenawalt (Upfield), Millicent M. (Molly), age 94, long-time resident of Dayton (Riverside), OH, most recently of Chardon, OH, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Maplewood of Chardon Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. Molly was born in Portsmouth, England, on November 27, 1923, the youngest in a family of five. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clarence Robert (Bob); her parents, George and Beatrice (Elliott) Upfield; her brother, George Upfield; sister and brother-in-law, Maisie and Gerry Allman; and brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Daphne Upfield. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Cheryl and Mark Plunkett of Columbus, OH; her son, Christopher J., and wife, Theresa (Bauer) Greenawalt, of Chardon, OH; three grandchildren, Marie (David) Valentine-Elam of Dublin, OH; Sarah (Aaron) Oglesbee of Enterprise, AL; and Jennifer (Michael) Mercer of Wilmington, NC; five great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Harry, and Samantha Valentine-Elam and Savannah and Dallas Oglesbee; her sister, Florence Hastings of Milton Keynes, England; her sister-in-law, Morag Upfield of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and dear friends, Bob and Joyce Graeter. Molly served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS) during World War II. As part of a public relations photo shoot on the HMS Victory during the war, she met her future husband, a photographer in the U.S. Navy. She worked several jobs before having children and becoming a full-time homemaker. Molly was a lifelong Anglican, who found great strength in her faith. Visitation will be held at 10:30am - 11:30am, Wednesday December 13, 2017 with funeral services to follow at 11:30am at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME–BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Interment to follow at WOODLAND Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice of Cleveland or the American Heart Association.
