Matthew William Thorpe

Thorpe, Matthew William, age 37, of Springfield, OH passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born in Dayton, OH on August 17, 1978, the son of Samuel and Mary (Brown) Thorpe, Sr. In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen A. (Griffiths) Thorpe; his 3 loving children, Caleb, Avery and Evan; his brother and sister-in-law, Samuel and Melissa Thorpe, Jr.; his maternal grandmother, Ambo Brown; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Nancy Griffiths and his brother-in-law, Matt Griffiths. He is is also survived by a loving host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Matt was a graduate of Fairmont High School, Class of 1996 and Ohio State University in 1999. He was an Eagle Scout and was actively involved with his children especially with Scouting where he served as a Den Leader. Matt served as a Captain in the Air National Guard and was an active member of the Christian Life Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Road with Pastor Ryan Day officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday. If desired, the family suggests that contributions in memory of Matt be made to The Swaziland Ministry in care of the Christian Life Center.
