On July 8, 1972, he married his surviving wife Doris (Kunk) Mitchell. Marvin and Doris were married for more than 52 years. Marvin is also survived by his son Brian and wife Jessica (Furnari) Mitchell, two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emma Mitchell, his sister Marilyn Seitz, his nephew Brett and wife Teasha (Sowder) Seitz, and two grand-nieces Leah and Tori Seitz.
Marvin served in the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia as a member of the Army Corps of Engineers from December 1965 to December 1967. He worked for Delco Products (General Motors) for 33 years. Marvin was a passionate supporter of the Greenmont-Oak Park Community Food Bank in Kettering, Ohio and Blue Star Mothers of America Miami Valley Chapter 3. He was a collector of Gravely Tractors and an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Versailles, Ohio American Legion. He enjoyed family outings with his in-laws and extended family.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 6-8 pm and Friday, October 4, 10-11am, at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton – Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio. Immediately following on Friday at 11am will be a memorial service, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45409 to follow.
Memorial contributions can be made in Marvin’s honor to the Blue Star Mothers of America or any local food pantry.
