Mark Gagnon, 59 of Dayton, passed away July 16, 2021 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Gagnon, father and mother-in-law Bob and Donna Martin, and brother-in-law Donald Umbricht. He is survived by his wife, Diana Gagnon, with whom he had 30 happy and wonderful years together. He is also survived by children Casey (Jeff) McGraw, Nicholas and Matthew Hudson. Three grandchildren survive him: Jordan (Cameron) Whipp, Hunter and Collin McGraw, as do two great grandchildren: Gavin and Grant Whipp. He is also survived by five siblings: Gail Umbricht, Gary (Mary) Gagnon, Amy (Jim) Wright, Jane (Fred) Marx and David Gagnon, as well as 15 nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces.
Mark was a 1979 graduate of Chaminade-Julienne High School. He studied at ITT Tech and became an HVAC technician, working for area companies before becoming the proprietor of Alternative Heating and Air in 1999. He later attended Sinclair Community College and graduated from the Law Enforcement program in 2008. Following this he worked in Enon and Jackson Township, OH as a police officer, and later joined the University of Dayton Campus Police.
Mark was an avid bowler and fisherman. He rolled three perfect 300 games and played in various leagues for 10 years. He was also a member of the Spring Run Trout Club and looked forward to his annual trips to Michigan to salmon fish.
A visitation with family will be held from 2-4 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4 PM on Saturday, July 24 at the Tobias Funeral Home Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. Dayton, OH. A fundraiser for Mark’s family will be held at Flanagan’s Pub, 101 E. Stewart St. Dayton, OH Thursday, July 29 from 6-10 PM.
