Lloyd Leo Ballard, 66, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 12, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Thursa Ballard. Lloyd leaves behind his devoted wife of 34 years, Fayrene Hinkle-Ballard, and his cherished daughter, Gini Ballard Lowery (Danny).
He was a proud grandfather to Kristan Lowery Redmond (Chandler), Brooks-Lynn Lowery Charlton (Joseph), and Bryant Lowery (Cassie). His role as a great-grandfather to Levi, Walker, Eleanor, and Tucker was one of his greatest joys. Lloyd is also survived by his father, Bobby Ballard; his brother, Roy Ballard (Deborah); and his nieces and nephew, Courtney (Tony), Caitlin (Mike), Alexis(Tommy), Jackson and Natalie, along with their children, Tatum, Logan, Ethan, Asher, and George.
Born and raised in Fairborn, Ohio, Lloyd graduated from Park Hills High School in 1975. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Wright State University and dedicated over 30 years of service to the Miami Valley Conservancy District. His work in land surveying helped protect communities in southwest Ohio from flooding, providing water conservation, and promoted the enjoyment of our waterways & bikeways in the Miami Valley.
Lloyd lived a life filled with adventure, creativity, and passion. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace and joy in camping, fishing, and hiking. Yet, it was music that truly defined him. As a multi-instrumentalist and the keyboardist for his band, Vintage Chrome, Lloyd brought people together through the power of music. His talent and charisma filled rooms with energy, just as his warm personality. His kindness and infectious laughter brought light to all who knew him.
Above all, Lloyd was a family man. He treasured the moments spent with his loved ones and was known for his deep, resonant laugh that could brighten anyone’s day. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
A viewing and service celebrating Lloyd’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home, 648 Watervliet Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, 45420.
Lloyd’s legacy of love, laughter, and music will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
