Age 91 of Dayton, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012 at his residence. Lavern was born on Tuesday, April 19, 1921 in Minster, Ohio to the late George and Iona Lea Meyer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth L. “Betty” Meyer on Thursday, March 4, 1971; his son, George C. Meyer on Tuesday, January 25, 2011; and his sister, Jean Barok. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ruby Tipton Meyer; daughters, Marcia (Dave) Richley of Xenia, Ohio, Michelle (Oleh) Kostetsky of Beavercreek, Ohio and Kimberly (Ashley) Springer of Xenia, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Betty Jo (John), Renee (Alex), Michael (Emily), Jennifer (Chris), John, Jamie, Jess (Jeff), and Carly (Greg); eleven great grandchildren; and a host of wonderful friends. Lavern served in the Army Air Corp during WW II as a 2nd Lieutenant, Piloting a B-24M with the 93rd Bomber Group in Europe. He also was the founder of Westwood Tool and Die from 1946 to 2003 and Westwood Finishing Company, Mike Conklin, Manager, from 1995 to present. He loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
