L. Leroy Sonny Erickson

ERICKSON, L. Leroy “Sonny”, age 85, of Kettering passed away peacefully Thursday, June 4, 2015. Sonny was born August 15, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio to the late John Gunnar and Esther Matilda (Tinnerholm) Erickson. He was a graduate of Stivers High School Class of 1948, United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from NCR and Delco Products with over forty years of service. Sonny was also a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Beavercreek. He was a devoted husband, caring father, and grandfather and loyal brother who will be greatly missed by all. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean (Bowersock) Erickson, daughter Karen Erickson, and son Jeffrey (Dora) Erickson, grandsons: David (Donna), and Matthew Hurst; Jordan and Kevin Erickson, great-grandchildren: Austin and Ashlin Hurst, sister Gloria Baggett, cousins Ake Eriksson and Lars Erik Johansson of Sweden, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service 1:00PM Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel, with Rev. Steve Kimm officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00AM to 1:00PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Sonny’s name to the American Heart Association, 5211 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45227.
