Kathleen M Grogan

GROGAN, Kathleen, peacefully moved on to the next phase of her life journey on February 10, 2012. She was warmly greeted by her sons Patrick and Thomas, her adopted parents Florence and Patrick Barry and by her birth mother Marie Kelly. She is survived by her husband Francis Grogan, her four children: Neil, Gerry (Kristin Grogan), Anne (Mark Romer) and Kathy (Phil Crippen), fourteen grandchildren and her lifelong friend Patricia Cooney. She was born in June 7, 1931 in New York City to Irish immigrants who had fallen in love. Due to financial circumstances she was placed in foster care and finally adopted in 1937. For all who knew Kathleen she embodied and represented the true meaning of love. Her children always knew that she loved them immensely and was their biggest supporter. In their triumphs she was there to cheer them on. In their times of tribulation, she was the one constant that could be counted on to provide a hug, words of encouragement and remind them that “you will have your day”. Her grandchildren felt the gift of her unconditional love. There was no better grandmother who would get down on the floor to play, allow them to win every game, celebrate birthdays like there was no one more important in the world, remind them that they will do great things and showing genuine excitement every time they entered a room. Most of all she taught them what it means to be a family. Through her life she shared her loving spirit with many friends who always felt fortunate to have met her. Her family would like to invite you to celebrate her legacy of love at a visitation at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45429 on Sunday, February 12th from 2-5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Leonard’s Church, 8100 Clyo Rd., Centerville on Monday, February 13th at 10:30 a.m. Two years ago an angel friend walked in our door to care for Kathleen. Today, Diane McCracken is a part of our family and we will always be grateful for the difference she made in Kathleen’s life. Our gratitude to the caregivers of The Hospice of Dayton is immeasurable.
