Karen graduated from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin High school where she participated in girl scouts and swam competitively. From high school it was on to the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse where she graduated in 1967. She was employed for many years as a second and third grade teacher by the City of Waukesha and City of Brookfield, Wisconsin school districts. She enjoyed teaching and educating the young kids. When living in the Cincinnati area she worked many days as a substitute teacher.
Throughout her life she enjoyed many hobbies. That is very evident by the award winning needlepoint and cross stich pieces that can be seen throughout her home in Centerville. She also enjoyed collecting miniature doll houses and furniture plus a huge teddy bear collection. Thirty five years ago Karen and her husband became attached to the Newfoundland dog breed and ever since she was devoted to the Newfoundlands by having at least two at all times. The Newfs ranged from pets to Grand Champions. Karen adored all of them.
Karen was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority during her college days. After college she was active in her sorority alumni group while living in the Chicago area and a member of the national sorority alumni. She also spent time volunteering her services to Kindervelt of Children’s Hospital and served as their chapter president for a time while living in Cincinnati in the early 80’s.
Karen is survived by her husband William G Caesar (Bill) of 55 years, Centerville, Oh, brother John R Dwyer, Jr and his wife Mary Dwyer of Racine, Wi., niece Colleen Dwyer Meloche, her husband Bernard of Montreal, Canada, nephews Michael Dwyer of Madison, Wi., John R Dwyer lll of the Detroit area, Mi., grand-nephew John R Dwyer lV of Racine, Wi., grand-nieces Mila Meloche and Eva Meloche of Montreal, Canada, grand-nieces Faith Dwyer and Lola Dwyer of Wauwatosa, Wi. Karen’s parents John R Dwyer, Sr. and Dorothy H Dwyer preceded Karen in death.
Services will be held at the Tobias Funeral Home at 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Oh. 45429. Visitation will be Monday, November 28th at noon followed by a service at 1pm.
