Joseph Lello Ferguson was born to Joseph Lello and Emily Case Lello on May 3rd, 1930, in Pleasant Ridge, Ohio. Joe’s Father was tragically killed in an auto accident when Joe was age three. He and his Mother, Emily, then moved to Fairfax, Ohio. Several years later, Emily married Russel Ferguson, who adopted Joe.
Joe graduated from Plainville High School and served for two years in the US. Navy stationed in Chicago, Illinois. Joe then attended Bowling Green University, graduating in 1958. Joe was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity taking his first job out of College in Cincinnati, Ohio, working for The Hartford Insurance Company.
Joe met his wife Joan shortly after graduation and they married in 1959. The couple lived for many years in Mariemont where they raised their two children, Lisa and Julie. They later moved to Lebanon, Ohio and also spent much time in Naples, Florida.
Joe spent several years as an insurance agent working his way toward creating his own successful investment business, Ferguson and Associates, located in Kenwood, Ohio. Joe was a devoted son, husband and father. Joe and his family were very close to his beloved Mother, Emily, spending time weekly at her home and vacationing together often. Joe began jogging daily in the 1970’s running several miles per day until well into his 80’s.
Joe also loved to play tennis, was a fitness advocate, and loved his hometown teams with a passion, attending Reds and Bengals games for decades with his family. Joe adored music, pets, his cabin in the woods on lake Cowan and the many friends he made along the way.
In his later years, Joe received loving care at Kingston of Miamisburg, and Stoney Ridge Care Center.
Joe passed peacefully to heaven on January 13th, 23. He joins his beloved wife, Joan, his Mother Emily Martin and Father Joseph Lello.
Joe is survived by his two daughters. Daughter, Lisa Balster and her husband Pat who reside in Centerville, Ohio and their children Sarah, Jacob, and Ben. Daughter, Julie Ferguson, and her husband Brian Schuetz who reside in Loveland, Colorado and their children, Macy and Bo.
Joe will be laid to rest at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Healing Pathways Children’s grief program at Pathways of Hope: Ohio’s Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
