I send my thoughts and prayers to the Del Rio family during this difficult time.  I'm sorry for your loss.  I was able to watch the service on channel 7 yesterday, a service for a true local hero.  I was your UPS driver, who all those daughters used to call "slim Jim", back in the 90's through early 2000s.  RIP Officer Del Rio.

Our deepest sympathies to the family for your lost. Jorge was a childhood friend. I lived down the block and we played together with the Rosiles. I remember when we would catch chipmunks with a water hose and a bird cage.  Jorge was into repitles back then and that iguana as a pet. Sorry I lost touch with him. Condolences to DelRio family. I was with DPD in 1970s..Pete Derksen.

The moment I heard of another LEO's passing, especially a local officer that dedicated his life to protecting and serving his community, while doing his job, it broke my heart as I imagined the dread his family was going to be going through when that knock on the door comes.

I didn't know Detective Jorge DelRio, but I knew several DPD officers from my Criminal Justice classes that I took at Sinclair Community College in the mid to late 80s, and they were there for their community when Officer DelRio would've been under their training and command at the beginning of his career. From their examples, he would become the best and it has shown in over 30 years of deducted service to his family, friends, coworkers, and community.

To his wife and family:
May memories of him bring you all comfort and know that he might not be with you physically, but his spirit will always be watching over you, surrounding you with love and supporting each of you in everything you do.

To fellow and future LEOs and Special Agents:
May memories and stories of him protecting and serving those he cared about serve to comfort and inspire you become a little more like Jorge DelRio.

Dear Delrio family, 
I'm a volunteer with the Colerain Township Police Department in Colerain,  Ohio. I want to say how truly sorry i'm about the death of Officer Delrio. To his Wife, Kids, Grandkids, you should never be going through this. I lost a friend earlier this year and he was a Colerain Police Officer. So i know what you are going through.  Just know that you are not alone. Officer Delrio brother and sister will have your guys back from now on. Rest in peace Officer Delrio.  




Del Rio Family, may God ease your anguish with enduring peace and comfort.  The beacon of light that shined so brightly in George also shines on today in the hearts and minds of all those who loved him.   As a community, we love and support you.

Prayers for Officer Del rio’s family, friends, and all who are in pain over his loss.  He made a difference, touched and saved countless lives.  His legacy will live forever.  
And to him:  Thank you for your Service to the Community.  You will not be forgotten.  May you Rest In Peace. 

My dad was a Dayton Police Officer
1968-1974., Theodore Wood, went by T. S. Wood. Detective Del Rio is only two years older than me. I recall hiding underneath my parents bed watching my dad getting ready to go out on the streets of Dayton at night as a small child and not wanting him to go. I know this is a very difficult time for the Del Rio Family and I offer my sincere condolences. I have attached a poem from former Captain Russ Guerra who sent this to my dad after he learned he had quit the Police Department. He tried to get him back.  Note the six years speaks of my dad. It speaks of all the brave men and women of Blue and what they face on a daily basis.

Jorge Del Rio was a kind,  respectful person even as a child. He was raised in East Chicago, Indiana and graduated 1982 from Washington High School. His friends from East Chicago send their love and prayers for his family. Our hearts go out to his family.

A DEA agent stopped at a farm one day " I need to inspect your farm for illegally growing drugs."

The farmer replies, pointing with his fingers " Okay, but don’t go in the field over there."
The DEA agent explodes saying "Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me!"

“Well,” the farmer says, “I don’t really think the authority of the Federal Government matters.  Don’t go in the field over there.”

Reaching into his pocket, the arrogant agent removed his badge and shoved it in the farmer’s face. " See this badge? This badge means that I am allowed to go anywhere I wish on any land! No questions asked, or answers given! Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?"

The guy nods politely, apologizes and goes about his chores. A short while later, he hears loud screams. He looks up and sees the DEA agent running for his life, being chased by the guy's big old mean bull. With every step, the bull was gaining ground on the agent and it seemed likely that he would surely be gored before he reached safety. The agent was clearly terrified.

The guy throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his voice:
"Your badge, show him your BADGE!!!!"  

 Your brothers and sisters are going to step up in Dayton to  get the message of "keeping the guns & drugs off our streets." Work was done well and your beautiful family knows that you are everyone's HERO. AND...giving others the Gift of LIFE...!! "Que Peter te abra las puertas nacaradas en tu próxima misión."  Prayers and Blessings.

Sending my sincere condolences to the entire Del Rio family. I work for the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office and was a resident of Dayton until my marriage in1992. I am very appreciative of the dedication and service provided by Officer Del Rio and all his brothers and sisters in blue. He may have succumbed by means of death, but he did not die in vain.

Jorge and I became really good friends at Block Jr. High.  He, Rick Garcia and I would sit in his room, read comics, watch TV and look at all of his drawings (his favorite character to draw was Spider-Man).  I collected comics also.
      I joined our hometown police dept (ECPD) and just retired after 28 yrs.  I currently work for Purdue University PD.  I wish I would have kept in touch with Jorge and Rick, because we always enjoyed each other's company.
     He had a very distinctive laugh and was always a great friend.   I hadn't shed a tear since my dad passed last August, but I've had a couple of instances since this occurred.
       My deepest condolences to all of you.   You're in my thoughts daily just like Jorge.
    Remember, when you look up into the sky at night and see small twinkles of light, those aren't really stars.  
     Those are pinholes, poked through the curtain of darkness by angels, with the light of heaven shining through.  
      And Jorge is going to be one of the angels looking down on us until we all meet again!  👮
