YENSEL, John A., age 75 of Centerville passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015. He was born in Dayton to the late Carolyn and John Yensel and is also preceded in death by his sister Pat Carter and his “brother” Bill Yensel. John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patty, his son Michael Yensel, his son and daughter in law Joe and Jen Yensel, grandchildren Anabelle, Enzo, Rocco, and Ozzy Yensel. John was a US Air Force Veteran serving at Otis Air Force Base and in Okinawa and member of the American Legion Post 598. Volunteering and giving back to the community was a major part of John’s life, he volunteered with the Centerville Police Department over the last 12 years, where he was known as “Monday John” and was an active member of Christ UMC serving on many committees and as a regular usher. John loved animals and supported several shelters, and especially loved his dog Bailey. He will always be remembered and cherished as a loving husband, father, friend, and true optimist. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held in John’s honor from 6-8pm Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Road, Kettering. A Memorial Service will take place at the church the following day, on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11am.
