John “Johnny” Milton Adams, age 94 of Round Rock, Texas was born in Weogufka, Alabama May 29, 1930 to the late Patrick Frazier Adams and Senara Adams. He departed life on September 1, 2024 in Round Rock, Texas. He left his childhood home in Rockford, Alabama to serve in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 during the Korean War. John was assigned to the 801st. Air Police Squad at Lockbourne Airbase in Columbus, Ohio and was deployed to Lackenheath and Bassingbourn Air Bases in England. John was awarded Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals and was honorably discharged in 1954.
In his early career, John worked for Corn Products and Dayton Tire and Rubber. He then later worked at and retired from Delco Moraine Division of General Motors in Dayton as a master electrician. Throughout his career at GM, John earned many awards for inventions and improvement ideas. He was also an entrepreneur, owning and developing rental properties.
In 2014, he retired from the Dayton Ohio Police Department after 23 years as a Neighborhood Assistance Officer. The mayor of the city of Dayton, Ohio presented John with the President Volunteer Service Award and named April 9, 2014 John Adams Day in his honor. God blessed him with a long full life.
John had a big heart and was active in the community and served as an Usher and Trustee at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. He was a man that loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He had several hobbies but mostly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with his wife Clarice.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, John F Adams; five brothers, Dewey, Victor, Harold, Robert and Billy Adams; and three sisters, Gloria Adams, Hattie Heglar, and Ella F. Leonard.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Clarice Adams; children, Debra (Carl) Cooper, Derick (Tanya) Adams, Donna Adams, Linda (Fulton) Godfrey, Lisa (Randy) Watson, Beverly (Kevin) Mitchell; stepson, Lou Boudreaux; 19 grandkids; 15 great-grands; two great-great grands; sister Barbara Ann Story; and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
A visitation for John will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45429. A Funeral Service will occur Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45429. A Burial with Air Force honors will occur Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W Third St, Dayton, Ohio.
