I did not know Joel on a personal level.  What I do know is that he always smiled and greeted me warmly when our paths crossed at WPAFB.  My sincere sympathy goes out to his famlily and friends at this most difficult time.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to Joel's family.  We were friends many years ago and had lost contact.  Was trying to find him on facebook, but was unsuccessful. Now he is gone and I can never talk to him again.  We danced, partied, talked and cried together. I have missed him over the years and didn't know he was so close and could have seen him at Yellow Rose.  I would have been there in a heart beat if I would have known he was there.  RIP Sweetheart and only wish that I could have seen you and hugged you one more time before you were called home.  My heart aches for our great lose.  Big Teddy Bear hugs and dances will be missed. Joel was a dear friend and a co-worker for many years at Systran Corporation.  I remember well his love for dancing, his cheerful spirit and his love for Jimmy Buffett concerts.  He was a wonderful man and a wonderful friend.

Joel you were such a pleasure to know, loved seeing you come in the Yellow Rose with that smile on your face, loved it even more seeing you out on the dance floor, you were good. I will miss you that's for sure. Love you my friend.

Joel, I wish I had a good pun right now (I know how much you loved them) to make the pain go away. You taught me many things on our journey together… the latest was the power of forgiveness. I will forever remember the night on the bluffs outside of Roswell where we felt we could touch the stars. You are playing among them now my friend. I am so thankful that through the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ we will meet again.

My condolences to his loved ones, Joel was my husbands best friend (Steve), they had great stories to tell of each other as children, their time in New Mexico, later in life Joel being Steve's boss.

Joel was a light in my husbands life and I appreciated his honest and kind words of encouragement to Steve and myself when my husband was facing death. I am grateful to have know Joel.

I knew Joel for several years in the 1990's while at AFIT, but have lost contact since.  I remember how much we all depended on him for his knowledge and ability to figure out a solution.  But I also remember just having coffee with him.  He had a great sense of humor and we always looked for reasons to pass by and talk with him.

I cannot truly grasp the reality that you are gone. I have loved being your friend for the last 18yrs. You are my family and will always be a shining light in my heart. God truly blessed my life when you said "yes" to the dance. I will never find another partner, friend, confident like you. You will be forever in my heart. I take peace knowing that your dad, mine and Kellie's were all there to greet you into Gods kingdom. I love you always and forever, Joel.

We will keep you in our hearts always, you were a wonderful friend, a great dancer, a super instructor...Joel had such a love for the Country/Western dancing and learned and taught so much to others.  He indeed will be missed....but we can honor his memory by remembering all the good times we shared with him.

You're the best friend a girl could have ever had.  I remember you holding Josh right after he was born.  He looked so tiny in your big loving arms.  You had a great big smile on your face.  I have many fond memories of working together, Buffett concerts, partying, dancing, etc.  I remember you taking me home after a night of partying, making sure I got in the house and standing at my door until you heard me lock it.  You always were quite a gentleman.  You really made my 40th a great night.  You will be missed more than you can ever imagine.  Love you!

Thoughts and prayers to Joel's family and friends..

Joel was my Godfather.. He was my very Best friend.. I miss talking to him every morning. He Always made me smile, no matter what was happening in his life, he always smiled and wanted to help me thru whatever I needed. He always thought of everyone else, before himself. He was such a blessing in my life. I have never known a better man..I will forever have a hole in my heart without him. I miss you so much Joelly..

Joel was my first boss here at AFIT, and I wil miss him. His staunch support of all of his contractors was without equal. We will miss him.

I don't even know what to say besides the fact that I am very thankful lto have known and worked with Joel. He is one of the first people that I met when I started working at Wright-Patterson, then I had the opportunity to continue working with him the past 5 years. It is going to a different place now without him here. Joel will be missed and remembered always! May God bless his family and friends at this time.

Quite a shock hearing about Joel. The man was so full of life, a good friend to everyone he met, a real dear heart. I will miss him. I offer my condolences to family and friends, especially to Kellie and Holly. He will be missed.

It's very difficult to make any comment about Joel in the past tense. He has been such an important part of my life and was there when I had a need for a friend the most, more than once. He was more than just my Godfather. He was truly a friend and a confidant for me. My Journey to Catholicism would have been a much more difficult journey without his lead. Joel still has a huge impact on my life and the way I live my life each day, even though it has been a long time since I have physically seen him. My biggest regret may always be that I didn't make the time to tell Joel how important he really is in my life and now I won't have that opportunity again. You are still my mentor and I will still try to live my life the way you showed me. You have touched so many lives and yet there is no person that I know of that is not a better person for knowing you. I'll always love you Joel and you will be missed for the remainder of my lifetime.Rest in peace my friend.
