Jeanann was an angel on Earth who met everyone with a smile and genuine love in her heart. She was happiest when she and Cliff were surrounded by family and all the laughter, joking, bantering, chaos, and love that included. A full kitchen, a dining room filled with food and chatter, grandchildren playing in the backyard and basement were her most cherished moments.
Jeanann was proud to be born and raised in Pittsburgh, so it should surprise no one that she loved the Steelers, the Duquesne Incline, the Fort Pitt tunnel, and all things Pittsburgh. She grew up in a magical home on Bucyrus Street that was built by her grandfather where she loved to spend time under the Grape Arbor and the Rhododendron in the backyard. She took tap and ballet lessons and loved to dance all the way home from Shirley Temple movies.
She and Cliff met in the Tuck Shop at The University of Pittsburgh where she was a Delta Zeta; and, when Cliff asked this beautiful girl to get him a coffee, she brought him a “healthier” glass of milk instead. Just after graduation, they were married in 1953 in Heinz Chapel on the Pitt campus. Their three children were all born in Pittsburgh before moving to Cleveland. Jeanann and Cliff enjoyed playing bridge with friends there and were involved with church and the YMCA.
Upon moving to Centerville in 1969, they joined Southminster Presbyterian Church and the Kettering YMCA where they and their children dove into all the programming available. Jeanann and Cliff developed lifelong friends with the church’s PresbyPair program, a beloved memory for Jeanann and her children. She lived a life that showed her children how to treat others fairly and with kindness and dignity.
When grandchildren came along, Gram, as she was lovingly called, doted on each one. She and Pap (Cliff) attended every soccer game, basketball game, school program, band competition, concert, and more.
Mom lovingly supported us in all of our good (and sometimes not-so-good) decisions. She celebrated our successes and held us close when things didn’t turn out as we had hoped.
Jeanann loved volunteering at Kettering Medical Center, which she did for 25+ years. She ushered at the Schuster center and Fraze. She loved her PEO sisters, her Driscoll school friends, her neighbors on Kings Row and Mourning Dove. She also loved a nice glass of wine with family or friends.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at Bethany Village who lovingly cared for Jeanann her final years.
