Mary Jane "Janie" O'Bleness, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, at Ohio Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, OH, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 21, 1943, in Columbus, OH, to Elmer George Linke and Mary Jane (Moncrief) Linke.
Janie, as she was affectionately known, was a woman of great strength and resilience. Despite facing the challenges of Alzheimer's Disease in her later years, she remained a beacon of love and grace for all who knew her. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared in her life.
On June 8, 1968, Janie married the love of her life, Ralph O'Bleness, in Columbus, OH. Their marriage was a testament to love, commitment, and unwavering support. Throughout their journey together, they shared both joys and sorrows, supporting one another through thick and thin.
Janie was a devoted mother to her children, R. Frank O'Bleness, Dr. Ryan O'Bleness, Teresa O'Bleness, and Richard O'Bleness. She poured her heart and soul into raising them, instilling in them the values of love, compassion, and forgiveness. Her love for her children knew no bounds, and she was their greatest cheerleader in all of their accomplishments and endeavors.
In addition to her Husband and children, Janie is survived by her brothers, Carl Linke and Fred Linke.
Janie's legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Brady O'Bleness, Jackson O'Bleness, Logan O'Bleness, Riley O'Bleness, Derek O'Bleness, Audrey O'Bleness, and Marcus O'Bleness. She adored each one of them and took great delight in witnessing them grow and flourish. Her love will forever be etched in their hearts.
Throughout her life, Janie pursued many passions and interests. She was an accomplished needle-worker and stitch-craft artist, creating beautiful pieces that showcased her creativity and attention to detail. Her talent was admired by all, and she took immense pride in her work.
Janie dedicated herself to her community and to the causes she held dear. She served as a secretary at Carroll High School, where she made lasting connections and impacted many lives. Her warm smile and caring nature brought comfort to all who crossed her path.
Janie's education was important to her, and she graduated from Sacred Heart School of Business. Additionally, she obtained Lay Pastoral Ministry Certification, allowing her to further serve her church and community.
Janie's life was marked by her unwavering faith and her commitment to her community. She found solace and strength in her relationship with God and was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Her faith guided her through life's challenges and brought her peace during difficult times.
To honor Janie's life, a viewing and funeral service will be held on February 16, 2024, at St. Helen Catholic Church on Burkhardt Road in Riverside, OH, beginning at 10:00 AM. Those who wish to pay their final respects and celebrate Janie's life are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Ohio Hospice of Dayton, or the St. Helen School Fund. These organizations held a special place in Janie's heart, and your contributions will help support vital research, care, and education.
Janie O'Bleness leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and faith. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the impact she had on the lives of all who knew her. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us to embrace the qualities that made her so extraordinary.
