Janet Martin, 62, of Centerville (Ohio) passed away on Sunday, March 2. She was born in Dayton (Ohio) to Jerry and Betty Martin, graduated from Xenia High School and received a BA in Education from the University of Cincinnati. She was married to Mark Martin in 1974 and taught in the Miamisburg School District for most of her career. She was active at the United Methodist Church in Kettering and with the Junior League of Dayton for many years. She is survived by a son, Bradley (Anne) Martin, a daughter Kelly Martin, a brother Kent (Patty) Martin, a sister-in-law, Maureen (Al) Lane, and many nieces and nephews and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Betty Martin, and her husband, Mark Martin. A 4H sewing champion, an enthusiastically mediocre skier, a devoted mother to her two children and dogs, a challenging teacher, a traveler to exotic locations like Costa Rica and Dorothy Lane Market, a swim mom, an equestrian mom, a collector of large colorful (and distracting) jewelry, and an undiscovered comedienne, Janet had many wondrous hobbies and adoring fans throughout her life. She will be most remembered for her golden smile, raucous laugh, loving generosity, and indomitable sense of humor. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live in our laughter and in our appreciation of warm beaches and sun soaked days. A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday at Tobias Far Hills Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1:00pm the same day.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Janet’s honor to the Wags Inn Dog Lodging and Rescue, 3190 Cortsville Rd. South Charleston, OH 45368; Phone 800-982-WAGS (9247); info@wagsinn.com; Facebook: https://facebook.com/wagsinn; Website:http://wagsinn.wordpress.com/Dayton, OH.
