James "Jim" Anthony Smith

James A. “Jim” Smith, age 68 of Madison township Middletown passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 surrounded by his loving family due to complications with Alzheimer’s and the Flu. Jim was born December 14,1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a 18 year US Army veteran, an Officer and pilot in the 283rd Medivac Unit. Later in life, Jim was an over the road truck driver for Schneider International for 15 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Minnie (Wright) Smith-Bunnell and James J. Smith of Miamitown, Ohio. Jim is survived by Patti, his loving wife of 18 Years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 5 children; Niki (Dusty) Grubbs, Jennifer ( Bob Depew) Coates, Misty (Michael) Freese, Brittany (Dan) Roberts and Tara Armold; and 14 grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his siblings; Glenna (Ken) Bortlein, Pam (Chris) Artrip and Jeff (Jen) Smith, Brother in-law Dr. Robert (Pam) Barnett, sister in-law Sue (Larry) Haag; and many nieces and nephews. The family is very grateful to the staff of Ohio Living Hospice Support, for the care they gave during Jim’s illness and passing.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 N. Main St., Springboro, OH 45066. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. Entombment with military honors will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to help with funeral expenses.
