James H.McKinnon, age 81 of Beavercreek, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital South. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Roy McKinnon and a sister, Mildred Lett. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mella McKinnon. He is also survived by his children: Dennis (fiancée Mary) McKinnon of Miamisburg, Michael (Michele) McKinnon of NY, Daniel (Kimberly) McKinnon of CA, Jan Carpenter of Dayton, Greg Taulbee of Beavercreek, Jeff Taulbee of Kettering and Rhonda (Brian) Walter of NC. Thirteen grandchildren also survive him: James, Kimberly, Leah, Lauren, Nicholas, Jessica, Natalie, Joe, Travis, Jocelyn, Megan, Erin and Lauren as well as thirteen great-grandchildren. Jim was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, having served in the 25th Infantry Division. Upon his return from the war he was employed as a manager at Ohio Bell for 39 years prior to his retirement. Following retirement he and Mel began to roam the country extensively and have traveled to nearly every US state while enjoying each other’s company. Funeral services will be held at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME Beavercreek Chapel 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 1 PM with Pastor Gary Favor officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 AM until the time of the funeral on Thursday. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to The American Cancer Society.
