Mastin II, James E. (Skip), age 71 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2018, after a long but valiant battle with colon cancer. Skip was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Mastin. Skip is survived by his wife Jayne of Dayton, OH; son Sean (Becca) Mastin of Cincinnati, OH; son Brian (Beth) Mastin of Columbus, OH; grandchildren Avery, James, and Owen ; mother Frances (Charles) Wallace of New Castle, IN; stepmother Lib Mastin of New Castle, IN; sisters Cindee (Jim) Claspell of New Castle, IN, Donna (Dennis) Campbell of Knightstown , IN, and Gretchen (David) Pendergraft of Cincinnati, OH; brothers Jeff (Jane) Mastin of Indianapolis, IN and Joe (Jeanette) Holloway of New Castle, IN and other family and friends. Skip was born in New Castle, IN on July 20, 1946. He graduated from Chrysler High School and continued to receive several associate degrees, Bachelor of Science in computer engineering, and an MBA from Wright State University. Skip was married to his wife of 50 years Jayne Lesseuer on April 15, 1967. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971. After the service he and Jayne moved to Dayton, Ohio. He worked at NCR, Mead Data Central, and Lexis Nexis. He retired from Lexis Nexis as a Director in 2012. While he enjoyed computers and technology, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. He was full of life and love, and his spirit will live on in all that knew him. A gathering of friends will be held from 12 noon until 2 pm Saturday March 3, 2018 at the Tobias Funeral Home Far Hills Chapel 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Memorial Service will follow at 2 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Private interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline, OH to be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund (a 501C (3) non profit organization), or the American Cancer Society.
