HALL, James M. passed away September 21, 2018, at the age of 90. Born in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Maury and Helen Hall. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan (nee Lake) and great grandsons Ryan and Evan Ingram. Survived by his 5 children, Melanie Patrick, Sydney Hall, James (Linda) Hall, Julie (Bill) Harrison and Mary Carol (Ken) Burns; grandchildren Christina (Brad) Ingram, Shaun (Amanda), Brandon, Joey, Jimmy Hall, and Michael Burns; great grandchildren Alex, Zachary and Katie Ingram, Bella and Maisie Hall. He is also survived by his brother Jerry (Donna) Hall of Hamilton, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim graduated from Seven Mile High School where he was president of his class and a standout athlete who earned many state honors. He was recruited to play baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1948. He was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Joining the Navy in early 1945, he was part of the V12 Fighter Pilot Program at Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. He graduated from Miami (Ohio) University in 1950. Jim began his career as a math and science teacher, also serving as a coach and referee. Later he became manager of the Hamilton Foundry of Hamilton, Ohio and the National Foundry of Dayton, Ohio. In 1970 Jim started the James M. Hall Company, Manufacturer Representatives. He was a respected businessman and foundry expert and served on the Mechanical Engineering Technology Advisory Board for Sinclair Community College. Jim had many interests. He was a jazz aficionado, loved history and genealogy, played tennis and enjoyed bike riding. He did not know a stranger and was well loved by everyone. Jim was a longtime member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Kettering, Ohio. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, Ohio. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton St., Hamilton, Ohio, with visitation at the church for one hour before the service.
