ELLIOTT, James Oliver age 77 of Beavercreek, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. He was born on July 20, 1935 in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Elliott served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. Upon graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, he made his home in Beavercreek, Ohio where he began his electrical engineering career at Delco Products, division of General Motors. Mr. Elliott retired in 1992 with over 25 patents for his design work. He was Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader of Pack/Troop 234 and enjoyed singing in the church choir and the barber shop quartet. Many family members affectionately refer to him as "Uncle Sonny". He was preceded in death by his wife, Bronda Lee Holmes Elliott; a son, Phillip Kirk Elliott; a sister, Carolyn Lee Wakefield; and a brother, Lowell Wray Elliott. Survivors: two sons and daughters-in-law, James Wray and Mary Ellen Elliott, Somerville, AL, and Jeffrey Walker and Kimberlie Jo Elliott, Bellbrook, OH; four grandchildren, James Caleb Elliott, Andrew Christopher Elliott, Elise Rebekah Elliott and Luke Graham Elliott, Somerville, AL; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Jean Elliott, Aylett, VA and Alvajean Holmes Donnelly, Emory, VA; nephews, Michael Wakefield, Douglas Wakefield, Lowell Wray Elliott, Jerry Holmes, Vincent Holmes, Justin Holmes, and Joshua Holmes; nieces, Cheryl Greenday, Gwynne Bailey, Stacie Elliott, Cindy Simpson, Dottie Holmes, Rachelle Holmes and Tracy Holmes. Funeral services for Mr. Elliott will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Beavercreek, OH with Rev. John T. Ball officiating. Graveside service will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek, OH.
