ATER, James Stanley, 92 of Dayton died Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was born Feb. 14, 1920 in Springfield, OH to Lucinda (Newton) and James H. Ater. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice A. Ater; sisters, Clara Kittles, Jennie Eichelberger and Naomi Erter; and brother, George Ater. He is survived by his daughters, Judy Conover (Bob) and Bonnie Botschner (Ed); son, Jim Ater (Judy); his grandchildren, Jeff Conover (Barb), Robin Owens (Tony), Joshua Ater (Lizzie), Sean Ater (Monica), Joel Ater, and Caleb Ater (Liz); 12 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Jim & Norma Voris and Bill Chandler. Stan was a WWII veteran and retired from the Aero Space Medical Research Laboratory at WPAFB. He was a charter member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church and was a lifelong volunteer. He was a Moorefield Twp. Volunteer Firefighter, volunteered for American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, and We Care Arts and President of Parkwood PTO. He enjoyed camping, boating and woodworking and took his projects to many area craft shows. The family requests no flowers but your donations to Hospice of Dayton or Peace Lutheran Church Beavercreek, OH. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3530 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Interment Valley View Memorial Gardens.
