STEEL, Jack E., Sr., age 92 of Kettering passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Jack was born on June 6, 1925 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late Nelson and Ruth Newman Steel. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty; brothers, Newman and Nelson Steel. He is survived by his son, Jack (Christine) Steel, Jr.; daughter Linda Jones; sister, Mary Lou Schear; Five grandchildren; Steve (Tasana) Jones, Theresa (Brian) Baird, Valerie (David) Gifford, Chad (Michelle) Gearing, and Brandon (Bessie) Gearing; and numerous great grandchildren; and dear special friend, Margaret Stephenson. Jack served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from Dayton Walther Corp. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – FAR HILLS CHAPEL, with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jamie Vannoy officiating.
