Ismaela Fernandez

Fernandez, Ismaela “Nena”, age 90 of Dayton passed away on March 15, 2020 surrounded by her large family. Born in Havana, Cuba to the late Ismaela and Leon Saiz. Preceded in death by her husband Guillermo “Bill Sr.”. Nena is survived by her son and daughter in law Guillermo “Willie” and Maria Fernandez; dear friend Millie Blanco; grandchildren: Isabel (Nate) Goodrich, Cristina (Matt) Chrisovergis, Willy (Sally) Fernandez, Lissette (Will) Mayberry, and Annette Fernandez; great-grandchildren: Isla Goodrich, Liam Mayberry, and Gustavo Fernandez.

Abuela loved to sew, garden, travel, her church, and Bombay Sapphire. We will all miss her Cuban coffee accompanied by laughter. Her biggest joy was having her family around her and watching her great-grandchildren play. She was the epitome of elegance and class, two qualities she displayed effortlessly throughout life. She was surrounded by her family until the very end. We would like to thank the staff at Kettering Hospital, Hospice of Dayton, Tobias Funeral Home, Touching Hearts, and St. Charles Borromeo.

A private service will be held for the family. Family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s or Dayton Children’s Hospital. In care of Tobias Funeral Home, Far Hills Chapel.
