Fleenor, Howard J., “Hollywood” age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2021. The son of the late Howard and Esta Mae Fleenor. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Spence. Howard is survived by his children, Shelia (Wesley) Summers, Lawana (Brian) Norvell, Teresa (Bill) Faber, Roger Dean Fleenor and Robin Fleenor; siblings, Maerene Winegarner, Sam (Gladys) Fleenor, Pat Bland, Charles (Modell) Fleenor (son-Zelalem, daughter-Nigist, grandson-Brook and granddaughter Afomia), Brenda (Gary) Craven, Zelma (Colin) Bobrosky, and Eddie Dean Fleenor; grandchildren, Kellen, Jarren, Ian, Breane, Revae, Lindsey and Kelsey; 2 great grandchildren, Maximus, and Elisabeth as well as other numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. Hollywood was a musician who played guitar and sang locally with a band in the 70s. He played guitar for Jerry Lee Lewis when he came through town. Hollywood was rarely seen without his cowboy hat.
Hollywood was an avid hunter and had a passion for roosters. Howard enjoyed spending time with his children and always looked forward to visiting his family in Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, and Oklahoma. He always enjoyed the annual “Fleenor” family reunions.
Howard attended Fairborn Full Gospel Tabernacle where he enjoyed seeing and talking to all of the congregation. He enjoyed sitting towards the front where he could listen to the word, watch the live gospel music and could be seen on occasion clapping his hands.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave. The funeral will follow immediately beginning at 12:00 pm. Entombment will be in David’s Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice of Dayton, or Bethany Village.
