Siler, Herbert H., age 83 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 1998. He was also preceded by his parents, his brother Lee Siler, step-daughter Janee Kinney and dear friend, Franklin T. Monday. He is survived by a step-daughter, Marcy Mahle and husband Bob of Centerville, a sister-in-law, Imogene Siler, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three nieces and his special friends Jim Grant, Clyde Wright and Jack Siler. Herb was a US Army Veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 2800 and American Legion Post 598. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and Ohio Gun Collector’s Club. He retired from Harrison Radiator in 1985 following 37 years of service in quality assurance as a member of Local 801. He was also a member of Cornerstone Baptist Temple. Herb’s survivors would like to say a special thank you to Tina and Dusty Poore for the care they provided for him, the journeys shared and their everlasting affection for such a wonderful and patriotic man. The family also wishes to thank Hospice of Dayton and the staff of The Sanctuary for their terrific care of Herb. We hope that his legacy of giving will live on in his family and friends. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. at Fauver on Tuesday evening, May 29 from 6 PM until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 30 with Pastor Jerry Siler officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Temple or Hospice of Dayton in Herb’s memory.
