THOMAS, Helen Philomena (Lechner) age 91 passed away at her residence with her family by her side, Monday, November 17, 2014. Helen was born in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Albert and Dorothea Lechner. She was a 1947 graduate of the University of Dayton; she went on to teach math at Julienne High School. Helen was a charter member of St. Henry’s parish. She was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and UD Flyers basketball. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 51 years, Eugene F. Thomas, sisters; Mary Ann(Walter)Glaser, Virginia(Millard)Staton, brother Mark Lechner, sister-in-law Patricia T. Lechner, brothers-in-law; Robert(Alice) and Richard Thomas. Helen is survived by her children: Michael(Martha), Joyce(Edward)Ray, Kevin, Teresa, Betsey(Richard)Redinger, Rosalie(Richard)Koesel, and Nancy(Mark)Gillotti, grandchildren: Daniel(Kathe), Jane, Alissa(Wesley)Norman, Rebecca(Greg)Hindman, Joseph and Christopher; Jonathen Ray; Richard, Thomas and Nicole Redinger; Richard, Ryan and Justin Koesel; Nicholas and Vincent Gillotti, great-grandchildren: James, Nathaniel, Quintin and Samantha; and William Norman, brother Thomas Lechner, sisters-in-law Patricia Lechner, Mary Thomas, brother-in-law Rev. William Thomas and a host of nieces and nephews, that were very special to her. Helen’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of Dayton staff for their kindness and compassion that was shown while Helen was under their care. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to St. Henry/St. Vincent de Paul 6696 Springboro Pk, Dayton, OH 45449. Family will receive friends Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. William V. Thomas at the St. Henry Catholic Church 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton, OH 45449, 11:00AM Friday. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
