Holton, (Walters), Helen, age 97, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Wood Glen Alzheimer’s Community. She was born on September 20, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, to German immigrants. She used her intelligence and determination to excel in many ways. Her proudest accomplishment was her Army (WAC) military service during WWII, from August 30, 1943 to January 29, 1946. She achieved the rank of Corporal, and earned several medals and awards. She first served in the military police at Fort Oglethorpe, GA. Because she could speak, read, and write fluent German, she was sent to Berlin immediately after Germany surrendered. There she served as an interpreter for the officer’s personnel. She loved music, has a beautiful singing voice, and was a great dancer. She was an avid reader, and her interests included science, history, politics, and spirituality. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to share funny stories and jokes. She was preceded in death by her husband Ferdinand; her parents, Philip and Katherine Walters; her brothers, Philip (Lottie), George (Rose), and Harold Walters; her sisters Katherine (Arthur) Honeyman and Suzanne (Charles) Boyles. She is survived by her brother Michael (Doris) Walters of Fairborn, Ohio; and sisters, Elizabeth (Philip) Zaidain of Riverside, OH, and Eva (Samuel) Zaidain of Marina, CA; and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd. in Kettering, OH.
